Bluegreen Vacations Review
Bluegreen Vacations: Costs, Points, Ownership & Is It Worth It?
Bluegreen Vacation Club combines deeded ownership with an annual allotment of Vacation Points that can be used for resort stays and, depending on the account, other travel benefits. But the value of a Bluegreen ownership depends on more than the number of points in the account.
The decision: Does this specific Bluegreen ownership provide enough usable vacation value, booking flexibility, and benefit value to justify its total cost and long-term commitment?
This guide combines TTCA’s vacation-ownership research with practical analysis of Bluegreen Vacation Club points, booking, annual costs, Hilton Grand Vacations ownership context, resale, transfer, financing, and ownership-change considerations. Rights, benefits, fees, and available options can depend on the specific account and current program rules, so material details should be verified against your own documents and current Bluegreen information. For broader operator research, see Timeshare Company Reviews.

The value of a Bluegreen ownership depends on how well its points and benefits translate into vacations your family actually wants to take.
Quick Answer
Is Bluegreen Vacation Club Worth It?
Bluegreen can make sense for an owner who uses the points consistently, understands the reservation system, can afford the annual maintenance fees and club dues, and gets enough value from the available resorts and benefits to justify the ongoing cost.
It becomes harder to justify when points regularly go unused, preferred trips are difficult to book, annual costs feel increasingly disconnected from the vacations received, financing remains expensive, or the ownership no longer fits the way the owner travels.
The better question is not whether Bluegreen is universally good or bad. It is whether your specific Bluegreen ownership works well enough for the way you actually travel.
What should you evaluate before deciding whether Bluegreen is worth it?
Bluegreen Vacation Club is easiest to evaluate by separating the Vacation Points from the ownership behind them: identify the deeded interest, total the purchase and recurring costs, measure how consistently the points produce vacations you value, and verify what resale, transfer, and direct ownership-change options remain if your needs change.
Bluegreen’s corporate relationship with Hilton Grand Vacations does not make every Bluegreen ownership equivalent to a traditional HGV ownership. Bluegreen-specific contracts, Vacation Points, fees, reservation rules, transferable benefits, financing, and account-level options still matter.
Ownership Structure
What Do You Actually Own?
Bluegreen Vacation Club is more than a points account.
Bluegreen describes Vacation Club ownership as a deeded real estate interest within a multi-site vacation ownership program. Owners receive an annual allotment of Vacation Club Points that function as reservation currency within the Bluegreen system.
That means there are two layers to evaluate:
- the underlying deeded ownership interest;
- the Vacation Points and benefits attached to the account.
Bluegreen + HGV
Bluegreen Is Part of Hilton Grand Vacations—but Your Bluegreen Ownership Still Matters
Bluegreen Vacations became part of Hilton Grand Vacations through HGV’s acquisition of the company. But that corporate relationship does not mean every Bluegreen owner should evaluate the ownership as though it were a traditional HGVClub membership.
Bluegreen continues to operate through Bluegreen-specific ownership documents, Vacation Points, maintenance fees, club dues, reservation rules, and owner-service processes.

Using the Ownership
How Bluegreen Vacation Points Work
Vacation Points are the currency owners use to reserve stays within the Bluegreen network.
The points required can vary by resort, season, accommodation size, travel dates, days of the week, and length of stay. Reservations also remain subject to availability.
That means the point balance alone does not tell you how much vacation value the ownership will produce.
What Changes the Answer
The Point Total Is Only One Part of Bluegreen’s Value
- Actual usage Are you consistently turning the ownership into vacations you genuinely value?
- Reservation fit Can you book the resorts, dates, and accommodation types that matter to you?
- Total cost How do purchase price, financing, annual fees, and club dues compare with what you actually use?
- Benefit value Are saved points, exchange options, or other benefits materially improving your trips?
- Future travel fit Does the ownership still suit the way you expect to travel several years from now?
- Resale and transfer flexibility What realistic options would remain if you eventually wanted to change ownership?
Ownership Cost
What Does Bluegreen Really Cost?
Bluegreen identifies three core costs associated with Vacation Club ownership:
- Purchase price The amount paid to acquire the ownership.
- Annual maintenance fees Recurring costs tied to maintaining the ownership and resort system.
- Annual club dues Recurring club-related charges that continue beyond the initial purchase.
A financed purchase can also add substantial interest over time, while particular transactions or travel uses may involve additional charges.

Vacation Points are only useful when they can be turned into the resorts, dates, and accommodations an owner actually wants to book.
Reservation Value
Can You Actually Book the Vacations You Want?
The number of points in the account is only half of the equation.
Point requirements can change according to resort location, seasonal demand, villa size, days of the week, and other reservation factors. Availability can also tighten around popular weekends and holidays.
That makes your actual booking history more useful than a theoretical points chart.
- Are you getting the resorts you want?
- Can you travel during the dates available?
- Are you using villa sizes your points can reasonably support?
- Are you regularly using most of your points?
- Are you changing your travel plans to fit the ownership more than the ownership is helping your travel?
Added Flexibility
Saved Points, RCI, and Other Benefits
Depending on the account and current program rules, Bluegreen ownership may include options such as:
- Saved Points;
- Direct Exchange;
- RCI exchange;
- other eligible travel or booking options.
Some accounts may also include or qualify for additional booking or travel benefits. Those benefits should be verified for the specific account rather than assumed from another owner’s experience.
How You Buy Matters
Buying Bluegreen Direct vs. Resale
A resale buyer may be able to acquire Bluegreen ownership at a substantially lower upfront cost than a developer purchaser. But the lower purchase price does not mean the rights and benefits are identical.
A prospective buyer should confirm what Vacation Points transfer, what annual fees and dues continue, whether the account is in good standing, what booking rights survive, and which added benefits may be limited or unavailable after resale.
Future Flexibility
Bluegreen Resale and Transfer Considerations
A Bluegreen ownership can still provide vacation value while having limited secondary-market value. A future buyer is likely to focus on the Vacation Points, annual fees, booking usefulness, transfer requirements, and what rights or benefits actually survive the resale.
A current owner considering resale should therefore look beyond the original developer purchase price and focus on what another buyer would actually receive and what the market is likely to value.
If you are considering transferring the ownership to a family member or another person, verify the current transfer requirements, account status, financing or lien issues, and which benefits will follow the ownership.
For the broader transfer decision, see Can You Transfer a Timeshare to Someone Else?
Before You Transfer
What Transfers—and What May Not
Before buying, selling, gifting, or transferring a Bluegreen ownership, confirm:
- The deeded interest What real-estate interest is actually changing hands?
- Vacation Point allocation How many annual points are attached to the ownership?
- Saved points and deadlines Do any existing point balances transfer?
- Account standing Are maintenance fees and club dues current?
- Financing or liens Must a balance be resolved before transfer?
- Reservation and exchange rights Which usage rights remain available to the new owner?
- Additional benefits Which account-specific benefits, if any, survive the transfer?
- Transfer procedure What fees, documentation, approvals, and recording steps apply?
Financing Matters
What If You Still Owe Money?
Financing can materially change the available options.
A Bluegreen owner may have separate obligations for the purchase loan, annual maintenance fees, club dues, assessments, and other charges. Those obligations should not be blended together.
A remaining loan balance can complicate resale, transfer, surrender, or another ownership-change path. Paying off the loan does not eliminate annual ownership costs, while staying current on annual fees does not resolve the remaining purchase debt.
When a Bluegreen ownership no longer fits, the next step is to verify the remaining obligations, transfer rules, and direct ownership-change options that actually apply.
Direct Options First
Check With Bluegreen First Before Paying for Outside Help
If your goal is to change or end the ownership, start with Bluegreen itself. Ask Bluegreen Owner Customer Service what options currently apply to your specific account and what conditions must be satisfied before an ownership change can be completed.
Ask specifically about:
- the current ownership-transfer process;
- whether the account must be paid in full;
- whether maintenance fees and club dues must be current;
- any transfer or processing fees;
- whether Bluegreen currently offers an ownership-resolution option for your account;
- what written documentation would confirm completion.
If you have already checked the options available directly through Bluegreen and they do not resolve the situation, Timeshare Specialists can help you explore resale, brokerage, transfer, or another ownership-resolution path.

Owner Experience
What Do Bluegreen Reviews and Complaints Actually Tell You?
Bluegreen reviews can describe very different experiences. Some owners are reviewing resort stays. Others are describing sales presentations, booking availability, financing, maintenance fees, club dues, customer service, resale expectations, transfer issues, or attempts to change the ownership.
That makes reviews useful as verification prompts, not as a simple vote on whether Bluegreen is good or bad.
- Booking Are owners repeatedly describing availability or planning issues you should understand before buying?
- Sales expectations Do written ownership rights match what buyers believed they were purchasing?
- Annual costs Does actual vacation use continue to justify the fees and dues?
- Points Are the points consistently producing vacations the owner values?
- Resale and transfer What realistic options remain when the ownership no longer fits?
Ownership Fit
Who Bluegreen May—and May Not—Fit
Bluegreen may be a stronger fit when you:
- Travel consistently and expect to continue doing so.
- Like the resorts and destinations available through the program.
- Can plan within the reservation system.
- Use most of your annual Vacation Points.
- Value the account benefits you actually receive.
- Can comfortably afford the continuing costs.
Bluegreen may deserve a closer look when you:
- Repeatedly leave points unused.
- Struggle to reserve the vacations that matter to you.
- Are carrying expensive financing.
- Feel annual costs are increasingly disconnected from usage.
- Expect strong resale value to justify the ownership.
- Only see the ownership working if you buy more points.
If Bluegreen ownership no longer fits, what are the four broader paths?
- Keep
- Continue owning and focus on getting more practical value from the Vacation Points, booking strategy, exchange options, and benefits you already pay for.
- Rent
- Keep the ownership while exploring whether eligible unused usage can help offset some of the recurring annual cost.
- Sell
- Explore whether a realistic resale or transfer market exists for the specific Bluegreen ownership, including financing, deed and account status, transfer requirements, and which rights or benefits survive the transfer.
- Exit
- Explore legitimate ways to end the ongoing ownership obligation, starting with Bluegreen’s current direct owner options and then considering resale, transfer, negotiated resolution, or qualified outside help when appropriate.
My Take
I Would Evaluate the Vacations First—and the Point Total Second
I would not judge Bluegreen by the number of Vacation Points in the account. I would judge it by what those points actually accomplish.
Am I getting vacations I want? Am I using most of what I own? Are the annual costs still reasonable for the travel I receive? Is financing affecting the economics? And are the benefits I am paying for actually helping me travel?
I would also separate the Hilton Grand Vacations relationship from the value of the individual Bluegreen contract. HGV owns Bluegreen, but that does not mean every Bluegreen account suddenly has the same economics, booking rights, or benefits as another HGV ownership.
If the ownership still produces vacations I value at a cost I am comfortable carrying, that matters more to me than the label on the program. If it no longer does, I would check Bluegreen’s current options first and then evaluate resale, transfer, and other ownership-change paths.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bluegreen Vacations FAQ
Is Bluegreen Vacation Club a timeshare?
Yes. Bluegreen describes Vacation Club ownership as a deeded real estate interest with an annual allotment of Vacation Club Points.
Is Bluegreen part of Hilton Grand Vacations?
Yes. Bluegreen is part of Hilton Grand Vacations, but Bluegreen ownership continues to operate through Bluegreen-specific contracts, Vacation Points, fees, and owner-service processes.
Are Bluegreen Vacation Points the same as HGV points?
No. They should not be assumed to be interchangeable. Any HGV-related access or benefits should be confirmed for the specific Bluegreen account.
How much does Bluegreen ownership cost each year?
Bluegreen identifies purchase price, annual maintenance fees, and annual club dues as core ownership costs. Financing and particular transactions can add other costs.
Can you buy Bluegreen on the resale market?
Yes, but a resale buyer should confirm exactly what rights and benefits transfer rather than assuming a resale purchase is identical to buying directly.
Can you sell or transfer Bluegreen ownership?
Potentially, but the process can depend on the deed, account standing, financing, transfer requirements, and current program rules.
What happens if you stop paying Bluegreen?
Nonpayment can create financial and ownership consequences. First identify whether the unpaid obligation involves the purchase loan, maintenance fees, club dues, or another charge before assuming that stopping payment ends the ownership.
TTCA Decision
Bluegreen Can Work Well—If the Ownership Produces Enough Usable Vacation Value
Bluegreen Vacation Club can make sense for an owner who uses the points consistently, can book vacations that fit the way they travel, values the destinations and benefits actually available to the account, and remains comfortable with the ongoing cost.
The strongest reason to keep a Bluegreen ownership is that it reliably produces vacations you value at a total cost and commitment that still make sense. The strongest reason to reevaluate it is that the ownership repeatedly fails to produce enough usable vacation value for what you continue to pay and carry.
